Pusat Perubatan Universiti Sains Malaysia Bertam (PPUSMB) [USM Bertam Medical Centre (USM-BMC)] offers wide range of advanced brachytherapy procedures especially for the cancer of the tongue, liver tumors, oesophageal cancer, prostate cancer, gynaecological cancers, soft tissue sarcoma, rectal cancer and also palliative brachytherapy. Most of these advanced brachytherapy services are not offered elsewhere in the region. The HyBIRT tongue cancer treatment (tongue - organ preservation treatment technique) is a novel technique developed by the team in Universiti Sains Malaysia and has benefited many patient in and outside the country. PPUSMB has been appointed as the BrachyAcademy (Netherlands) Global Training Centre since 2018 and currently accepts radiation oncologist, related surgical specialist, radiologist and medical physicist for clinical training fellowship.
